World of Warcraft

This is a sample page based on the work of Blizzard Entertainment, attempting to design into the style of their Warcraft IP. The logos, the Dranei (the big blue bloke) illustration and the artwork are straight from the World of Warcraft fankits, while the rest of it comes from bits and pieces of stock photos, hacked together and heavily designed over. You’re welcome to check out the raw Photoshop files if you want to see how it all came together.

On the technical side of things, my goal was to try and keep the markup as clean as possible (structure and data only, with few superfluous style-hooks), and do all the heavy lifting, stylistically speaking, with CSS. Sprinkle on some Flash and unobtrusive Javascript to add some sparkly bits, and there you go.

I highly recommend you view the source, as this page is heavily documented, to give you a good idea of how I generally approach a page like this. If you want to slog through the markup I’d use on a production system, which has much terser comments, you’re more than welcome to check out the trimmed down source.

Regardless of whether you love it or loathe it, I’d like to hear your comments!
